Like the Revolutionary war heroes and dutch settlers of yesteryear you could own an authentic clay pipe.
These pipes were historically long, like a churchwarden. These pipes were usually kept in a tavern and a little piece would be broken off after each use so as not to pass germs.
"Tavern pipes were not broken off to avaid germs - in the days of the tavern pipe, there was very little, if any knowledge of germs. It wasn't until after the civil war that doctors started to realize that those tiny things that they could only see through a microscope could even HURT people. Also, if a pipe needed to be cleaned, it was done so by putting it on some red coals and whatever was clogging the pipe was burned out. The pipe was long so it would provide a cooler smoke and "bite" the tongue less."
