Truly a luxurious tobacco. The world's best Virginias are carefully conditioned to insure sweetness. Then they are added to rich, heavier and cooler Virginias. A unique flavor is added to the final blend to enhance the subtle and piquant aroma.

I agree with the idea that its like a high end cigar, smoked my first from a corncob, don't hate, it burned through very fast. I will try it in a briar now I'm sure I like it. Have tried every form of tobacco but snuff and this has as much nicotine as skoal or cope, which in my experience blows your head off. 4 out of five because its only the third kind of pipe tobacco I've tried and I don't know what a five star is yet. Pipes will be the form I stick with.

When I first opened the deluxe navy rolls, I was taken back by how lovely the tobacco smelled. The packaging was well kept and the rolls were put together nicely, all still in tacked intact. My first smoke (after 3 shots and 4 bottles of hard cider) was phenomenal. As I smoked through the whole bowl, sweetness and spicy flavors rotated in my mouth. I was absolutely in awe. After a week of smoking the deluxe navy rolls, the spiciness started to become a little too much. If you like the more spice/peppermint tobaccos this is all you. If you kind of like the spicy tobaccos, this is definitely one to experience, but may be only the occasional smoke for drinking.

This kinda reminds me of smoking a high dollar cigar. Thick rich smooth but strong with a little sweetness. Highly recommended.

Like some other reviewers I did not really enjoy Royal Yacht until I matched with the right pipe. A very pleasant slightly sweet, cool smoke. I ordered a few tins of aged Royal Yacht from the vault and can't wait for the experience of savoring that smoke.
A good alternative

This blend is perfect if you want to smoke an english blend without the Latakia effect. It is a strong mixture with the taste and the smell of a baking cake. Perfect with the after supper tea or a good scotch.

RY, as with all Dunhill tobaccos, is expensive for the same reason divorce is -- it's worth it. One of the most balanced and enticing products on this earth. I actually smile just looking at the tin.

Not to sweet and not to strong, comes on very flavorful then finishes smooth, a perfect rounded all day smoke.

This is a very fine blend. It smokes well with a nice palate covering and burns well. It just seems to satisfy. I smoke this several times each day.
Not for the beginner.

Okay. Royal Yacht is good real good but you better save this for late in the day on a full stomach. Heavy body with a thick smoke. Is as smooth as it is strong. Only thing keeping this from me giving it a five star rating was the nicotine kick. This is not for the inexperienced smoker.

I read that the famous belgian writer Georges Simenon used to smoke this blend and decided to try it. Rich nutty taste and sweet aroma. Very agreable with a good scotch at the end of day.

This blend is similar to Dr.Pat but has deeper more mature flavors. This blend will grow on you (I found it bland the first time I smoked it,I switched the pipe I was using and fell in love).A well rounded all-day smoke, recommended.
I'm glad I stuck with it

I had my first encounter with RY by smoking about one third of a tin a couple of years ago. I flat out didn't like it. I revisited the tin several months later and found the tobacco to still be boring. Having such a strong following I recently gave it one more shot. That was three fast tins ago! I seem to have found out what many lovers of this blend already know, it just a good solid tobacco. It offers a tin scent of a good vaper (although there is no perique in the blend), the usual raisins, figs etc. I don't get plum in the flavor but more of a carmel taste in the background of pure tobacco that is very, very lightly cased. Royal Yacht seems to be in its own unique category taste wise and its on the strong side and slightly sweet. RY packs well, only needs a few minutes of dry time and leaves a white ash. This is one I'm glad I stuck with!
