Escudo Navy DeLuxe (50g tin)
Escudo Navy Deluxe is an old classic pipe tobacco. It is a Perique/Va curley cut tobacco. It is packaged in a 50g collectible tin.
This tobacco was produced by the Cope brothers from 1870 to 1936, at which point they were bought by Gallaher. Gallaher produced Escudo until 1994. A & C Petersen began production in 1997, and now the Skandinavian Tobacco Group is at the helm with the original presses.
It is a medium to strong tobacco.

New piper here, only about 8 blends smoked thus far. That being said, Escudo has me looking for more Va/per blends. Absolutely delicious. Smooth, great aroma in the tin. Easy to smoke, plenty of nicotine, and a definite to have on hand at all times.

Fairly new to the pipe smoking world, Escudo was highly recommended and so I bought some. I understand now why it's so highly regarded! The experience from opening the tin to the bottom of the bowl was simply awesome - except the fact I was at the bottom of my bowl. I like strong coffee and I like the fact this has plenty of perique added to high quality Va's. It is not my 1st or last smoke of the day, but is one of my must-have's in my rotation because I smoke it during the day. Very highly recommended!

I've seen and heard of Escudo for over 40 years, but never tried it for whatever reason. I just picked up a tin and I must say that I can see why it's been around forever. I've tried a lot of different tinned VaPers and this is one of the half dozen best I've ever had. It ranks with the G.L. Pease tins. High praise from me! I'll probably let it sit for a few months and try it again. I'm looking forward to that!

I finally found the perfect come home from work thank God it's over smoke. My Peterson filled with Escudo in one hand and a glass of Bourbon in the other. Life just doesn't get any better than this. This is a very rich, smooth but strong smoke. The taste is fa-nominal and the deeper you get in the bowl, the better it gets. A must for your rotation.

There are no words! This is perfect to smoke if you are a first timer with Per/VA blend. So smooth like puffing on a cloud. The balance of flavor and richness in the flake is outstanding. JUST GET IT!

Being quite new to pipes, I am still experimenting and trying to find what tobaccos and what blends I like. I must say this is so far the most enjoyable experience I have had in my new hobby to date. From the moment I first opened the tin, to the bottom of the last bowlful, I am still in awe. I will be buying more of this heaven in a tin!

Read the reviews and heard from other people how good this one was so I had to buy a tin. Glad I did. A really nice smoke, big up front, really comes into its own on the last half of the bowl. I will keep this one in the rotation and age a few tins for the years to come
Great warm-weather smoke.

Great mix of spicy Virginia and almost peppery Perique, quietly complex with a clean aftertaste and classically old billiard hall room note. Sometimes a pipes feels a bit heavy in the summer, but this is a terrific warm weather smoke.

I haven't found a match for this tobacco for any of my pipes, but like similar tobaccos that are pressed, i.e., flakes, it's always been hard for me to find the right pipe that smokes it well. Good flavor though.

When it comes to tinned VaPers available in the US, I don't think there is one better than Escudo. The Perique is added with just a slightly heavier hand than some other blends. I really love those wonderful coins with a few years of age on them. Aged Escudo smells of raisins, figs and offers a deep, rich, sweet flavor. I choose to rub out the coins, but many like the "fold and stuff" method and that's fine too. Escudo is one of those blends that really love the cellar. Now if we can just see the return of Capstan to the US...........

In my opinion, one of the smoothest and satisfying tobaccos to be found. Excellent with the morning coffee and meant to be savored. Number one on my list.

I`ve been a fan of Dunhill tobaccos for 4 decades, altogether with lower priced brands of course, but due to it's shortage and dissaperance fron the market I got into Escudo
Well, now is my top Va/Pqe smoke!
I would'nt trade for another
It`s coin prsentatio, flavor, just superb!

This is a very tasty tobacco. Tangy flavor of sweet citrus. Smells chocolaty in the tin, burns well leaves a white ash in the chamber. An excellent old school smoke.

This is one of the "go to" vapers in the marketplace today. There are 3 or 4 others as well, but this has been, and continues to be many a pipers must have in the bowl and the cellar.
The favor profile has a natural sweetness, with hints of coffee, yeasty bread, caramel notes, slight hints of fresh mown alfalfa. The strength is satisfying to the experienced piper but not overwhelming for those taking their first bowl. A solid medium strength in nicotine, and a full strength flavor.
The packaging is really superb! The spun tobacco has been cut into coins the size of old school half dollars and laid out nicely in the tin. This is a dense tobacco and will rub out nicely if desired. Since it is dense, don't be surprised if when opening your first tin, you are taken aback at how little tobacco appears to be in the tin. Rest assured that those coins will, if rubbed out, fill the tin quite nicely.
I can't recommend this enough to Vaper and Virginia lovers.
