A Good All Day Smoke
April 10, 2013
I'm somewhat new to Virginia/Perique pipe tobacco blends. So I wasn't sure what to expect. I know the basic process in curing Perique is fermentation. So I expected something of the aroma of pickles. Not so. The room note reminded me pleasantly of the faint aroma of burning autumn leaves...a little spicy, with a faint sweetness. Louisiana Red leaves a clean pleasant aftertaste, with no tongue bite. Smoked out of doors, my impression of the pleasant aroma of burning leaves is increased. A cool, slow burning, mild, all day smoke, I would recommend Louisiana Red to anyone looking to try a Virginia/Perique blend for the first time.

I reviewed this tobacco a week or two ago and I want to revisit my opinion. I am not a fan of fancy, tobaccos; give me a pipefull of natural tobacco flavour with a kick of spice....LR is outstanding and satisfies my tastebuds 1,000 times over.

d An exceptional blend of Virginia and Perique. Mild to medium strength, just the right amount of Perique to add a nice spicy flavor. No bite, easily an all-day smoke. My new

This is a good Virgina/Perique tobacco mix. I'd say that this is a medium to mild mix. The flavor isn't overly complex, but enough to satisfy my pallet. The Perique and Virginia tobaccos are very well balanced with neither one dominating the mix. The aftertaste is pleasantly sweet without any artificial tasting flavors. I love this stuff. This is a good candidate for my daily first smoke of the day. This is something you could smoke all day.
