Rocky Patel Vintage 2nds
By now, if you're a premium cigar enthusiast and you haven't been living under a rock since the mid-nineties, you know who Rocky Patel is. His Indian Tabac cigars were all the rage - tasty and affordable, but the cigars that really put Rocky on the map were the 1990 and 1992 Vintage. The 1990 features a well-aged Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, while the 1992 has a golden-brown Ecuadorian Sumatra capa. They're delicious, box-pressed beauties, and have been one of his mainstays of Rocky's lineup for many years. Of course, when you make as many cigars as Rocky does, and you're as picky as he is, there are going to be some that won't pass muster. That's the story here.
The Rocky Patel Vintage Seconds are only rejected for color differences or uneven wrapper color. Otherwise, they're the same premium flavor and construction, and to save a little more cost, they don't bother to box-press them. The end result is that you can get the flavor of a Vintage for less than half the price of the first-quality version. You'll be thanking us all the way to the bank.
